Medical Students celebrate "Sinhala-Hindu New year" in Russia
Kursk
State Medical University is one of the prestigious medical
universities in Russia. It is sponsored by the Russian Government
and founded in 1935. Kursk State Medical University is the
First University in Russia to begin Graduate and Undergraduate
programs in English Medium. It won the 2004 Gold Medal for
the Best Medical University in Russia. KSMU is recognized
by WHO, BMC, EU and the Srilankan Medical Council.
During
its existence KSMU has trained more than 25,000 highly qualified
specialists, physicians, Pharmacists, Social workers, Technologists,
who successfully work not only in Russia, but all around
the world including Morocco, Lebanon, India, Malaysia, Sri
Lanka, Pakistan, Africa, Europe and USA.
Annually over 500 students are admitted to 12 faculties,
70 departments of the University.
Presently over 150 Srilankan students are registered and
studying in this university.
The Sri Lankan Cultural Show is a yearly event that is exclusively
presented by the Sri Lanakan students of KSMU. It is an
event that symbolizes the unity and integrity shared by
all of them.
Like every year, 2004 Cultural Show was held on 11th April
2004 with full of surprises and colorful programs. The fusion
of Sri Lankan traditions and customs with Russian traditions
was one of the most extravagant displays of professionalism
in theatrical fields. It proved that doctors graduating
from KSMU are not just confined to medicine alone but are
good at a number of other fields.
Sri
Lankan Ambassador to Russian Federation, His Excellency
U. B. Wijekoon, visited Kursk State Medical University for
the grand celebrations of Sinhalese and Hindu New Year.
Honorable Ambassador's wife Mrs. Mallika Wijekoon was also
present on this auspicious occasion.
The show was an excellent demonstration of the serenity,
sovereignty and secularism of the Sri Lankan students bring
with them from home.
The
Ambassador his Excellency, was conversing with the srilankan
students, KSMU administration and was very happy about the
quality of education and services provided by KSMU to Srilankan
students.

According
to the Srilankan Representative of the University, Mr.Yasoba
N. Atukorale students of Srilankan in KSMU celebrate not
only Sinhala-Tamil New Year, but Wesak, Christmas, Ramazan,
Deepawali together with other International Students who
study at KSMU.
KSMU
has started registration prospective students for the 2004/2005.
Minimum qualifications to enter the Medical Faculty are
3 Credit passes from GCE A/L in Biology Scheme. Minimum
Qualifications to entrance to Premedical Faculty are successful
O/L's.
